THE TOBY'S STORY

Toby's Cabinet Shop has come a long way from the small shop located on East Miller Street so long ago.

The original owner, Toby Smidt, sold the business to his employee, Clarence Koenigsfeld, when he decided to retire in 1971. Clarence has been expanding the business ever since.

The shop was moved to a much more spacious location on North Ten Mile Drive in 1977. Toby's had gone from an operation of about 2 employees to one with 6 employees. By 1997, with 15 employees, it was time to move again.

The "new" shop, located at 509 Enterprise Drive (in Apache Flats), has 9,500 square feet of work space, to give each employee a much more comfortable and safe working environment. In addition, we have 4000 square feet of storage space to keep the raw materials in a clean and protected environment.

Our state-of-the-art paint / finish room is specially designed to keep dust and over-spray at an absolute minimum, ensuring a beautiful finish on our customers' cabinets.

The "office" in the original shop on East Miller was non-existent. The second shop had a small office and showroom that doubled as the employee break room.

The new shop has a large, attractive reception / showroom area, private offices for the managers, a separate break room for our employees, and a drafting room, where Clarence draws up your custom cabinets while overlooking operations in the rest of the shop.

Another innovative addition to the business is the implementation of a computer program that can show you what your cabinets will look like in your home before any actual work is even started.

Yes, Toby's has come a long way from the first little shop, but one thing hasn't changed, and that's their commitment to putting out nothing but the very best quality cabinets in Mid-Missouri.
